CONDITION:   Very good

DAMAGE:   Normal use and wear, scratches & dings. The stag is a little dried out and though I waxed it with Walker Wax it could probably use two or three good wipe downs with mineral oil.

BLADE WEAR:   Not knowing how large the blade was originally, I would estimate the blade loss at approx 10%, perhaps less.

ADDITIONAL INFO:      Information about Parker Edwards Knives is little difficult to find, but I have found a little bit. Jim Parker in Fain Edwards started a knife factory in Jacksonville Alabama in 1984. They were partners for about two years and Jim Parker bought Fain Edwards out in 1986. They specialized in making Damascus steel knives, with Damascus that was made in their own plant. Jim Parker acquired a number of companies, including Case for a while. In 1990 the assets of Parker Cutlery were liquidated. The knife factory in Jacksonville Alabama was one of the prime assets of Parker Cutlery. Ken Griffey had worked for Parker Cutlery since the mid-1980s. Ken Griffey and to partners purchase the factory about 1991 and started their own knife business called Bear MGC, which eventually became Bear & Son Cutlery.

All this history doesn’t tell us a great deal about this knife, but we know it would’ve been made between 1980 for 1986 in Jacksonville Alabama. From what I’ve been able to gather most of the knives made there had Damascus steel blades, but this one does not. That may mean it is less common than the Damascus blades but I don’t think that has a great affect on its price. This knife does have nice thick stag, more reminiscent of some of the older German companies in the thick stag they used on some knives. I have seen thick stag like this on some Puma knives from the 1980s.
