ADDITIONAL INFO:      This is the Stag (model #2040) from the Easy Rider™ series of Kershaw knives. I don’t have catalogs that go back to 1974 when Kershaw started, but from the information I have been able to dig up around the web the Easy Rider Series was one of the earlier series of knives that Kershaw made. I would date this series circa 1977. I believe that’s accurate within two years on either side of the date. Some of the Easy Rider Series appear on the 1986 dealer price list, including the #2040 Stag. This is an excellent example for a collection or display or if someone wanted a very good pocketknife. I had a lot of customers in the cutlery store that liked these knives. This series of knives really help to build the “Kershaw sharp” mystique that surrounds Kershaw knives to this day. We had to warn customers that these knives are really sharp, “No, I mean really, really sharp!”

I believe this knife still has the factory edge, and I don’t think it has been used or carried; it certainly doesn’t show any evidence of that. It may have a few minor marks from shop wear but I don’t think it has been used. An excellent example for a Kershaw collection!
