ADDITIONAL INFO:            This knife is a restoration/customization project. The knife frame I started with was a 123OT, the Old Timer Pioneer; the frame was in good condition but the little blade was worn down considerably. I did not have a new blade for the Old Timer 123 but I did have a new Uncle Henry 124 blade. Since both knives are essentially the same the blades are interchangeable. I put the new 124UH blade and the knife and replace the handles with a wood called Lignum Vitae. Lignum Vitae is a unique wood; it is so dense that it usually sinks and it is so oily that you can’t put a finish on the wood. Lignum Vitae is frequently used as bushings in grandfather clocks and is also used as pushing blocks for the propeller shaft of ships. There is so much natural oil in the wood that there is very little friction when the wood is used in these applications. The handles of this knife have been sanded and buffed with a fine buffing compound. This is all that was needed to achieve the shine on the handles.
