Frank Buster - Fightn Rooster - EE Senator "Stained Glass" Fancy Pen Knife- 1976-1982 - Solingen

Made in Solingen, Germany!

This knife is from the first generation of Fight’n Roosters made by Frank Buster Cutlery Co between 1976-1985. The company had a line of “Fancy Pen Knives” during this era, which earned it’s own chapter in Parker’s book, “Fight’n Rooster Knives Yesterday – Today – Tomorrow”. This 2 blade knife pattern goes by a few names, commonly called a pen knife or equal end (or even, EE pen knife) but I believe the official name is called a Senator’s knife. It is easy to see why these were called “fancy” pen knives, with the ornate and colorful inlays. The primary material used in the scales is a synthetic known as “cracked ice”. I’m not exactly sure what the color inlay is, but it appears to be a “heavy grit” glitter with an epoxy coating? It is smooth to the touch, with unique metal liners that I can only describe as “eyelash shaped”. This knife reminds me of the intricate stained glass windows of the church I went to as a child. The off-white color of the cracked ice combined with the bright glitter and metallic accents also makes me think of an ornate faberge egg. Together, it makes me think of Easter.

This pattern is a bit larger than most pen knives, measuring in at approx 3.5” closed. It has brass pins and liners, with stainless steel blades and spring. The spear point main blade is 2 5/8” and the secondary pen blade is 1 5/8”. Both appear to have factory edges with no signs of use or sharpening. There are some light markings that appear to be from blade rub on the main blade, with one very small (but slightly more prominent) mark on the pile side. (picture taken at angle/lighting to best show markings. It is NOT that visible in normal light, as seen in other photos) The secondary blade is free from any blemishes, as are the scales. Both blades have the original Fight’n Rooster tang stamp over “Solingen” on the mark sides. The pile side of the main blade is stamped “Frank Buster (arched)/Cutlery/CO./Germany” while the secondary blade is only stamped on the mark side. The main blade has great snap on open and close; the secondary has very good snap. No wobble or play on either blade.

**Note: I am new to knife collecting and selling. All descriptions are to the best of my knowledge and in an attempt to be as honest and forthright as possible in regards to knife condition. I have conducted hours upon hours of research on each individual knife that comes into my possession in an attempt to set a fair price. PLEASE feel free to contact me for more information on this or any other item in my store.
