This is an original Remington R8004 UMC pocket knife, made in the 1920s–1930s at Remington’s Bridgeport, Connecticut factory. It features a beautiful imitation mother-of-pearl celluloid handle with no cracks, chips, or warping. The knife has two blades:

• A small pen blade clearly stamped REMINGTON UMC in an oval

• A textured manicure/nail file blade with pointed tip

Blades open and close smoothly with good snap. The bolsters are clean, pins are tight, and the handle has a beautiful pearlescent sheen.

This model — R8004 — is part of Remington’s classic 8000-series of gentleman’s and manicure knives, prized by collectors today. A well-preserved example of early 20th-century American craftsmanship.
