Said to be among the rarest of gravity knives. These were designed and patented by Captain Isaac Winter Heysinger of Pennsylvania's 19th Cavalry. This one is the smaller size believed to have been made in the early 1900s. It measures just under 5.5" open. Scales are dark wood and appears to be walnut. There is some wear on the back side adjacent to the bolster but no cracks. The scales are very solid.  Brass frame and button, both of which are excellent. Knife operates beautifully and doesn't wobble when open. 

This is quite a unique piece of history and these do not come up often.
