Up for sale is a 100 +/- year old stag "Encore" hawkbill pruning knife made by T. Turner & Co.  The knife is in amazing condition for its age.  It has heavy and deeply contoured stag scales that are beautiful in appearance and feel very substantial in ones hand.

I consider the knife to be in EXCELLENT condition for its age.  The scales are beautiful.  The blade, though used, is shiny and has no pitting.  All markings are the blade are clear, distinct and easily read.  The "half stop" is fully functional and strong.  The "snap" on the knife when closing the blade is actually pretty scary...it would cause a nasty bite if a person is not careful.

Two items of note.  First, as shown in the last photo, there is a very small "divot" in the blade about 1/2 inch from the tip.  No metal is missing and the blade is straight...but there is a small bend in the cutting edge of the blade.  And second, there is a small "tight" crack in one of the scale by the middle pin adjacent to the "well" of the knife.  I have tried to show this crack in the next to last photo, but the dark scales and the dark crack disguise this imperfection.

One cool feature of the knife is that it has a flat metal bolster at the end, so the knife "stand up" and can be displayed vertically on a desk or in a knife cabinet.
