Vintage 1992 Case XX Classic 73091 Backspring Whittler Stag Prototype Knife.  Prototype Case Classic 91 Small Frame Split Backspring Whittler pattern. This Prototype knife features beautiful Genuine Stag scales, and the Case Oval Shield which is pinned to the frame; the length is 4 1/2" closed. This Genuine Stag Prototype is engraved with "Prototype" on the rear side of the master blade. (The Genuine Stag 91 Whittlers were produced in the Case Classic series but no standard production runs were produced with this Small Frame, the regular issues were produced with the Large Frames only). The tang stamp reads Case Tested XX 19 USA 92; rear tang is pattern stamped Tested XX 73091, of which the "7" actually denotes a celluloid handle material. The Spey and Pen blades are both tang stamped; the rear Pen blade is stamped with Case Tested XX USA and the front Spey blade features an encircled Case XX Tested.  This knife is in mint condition in the original Case Tested XX Case Classic box with letter of authenticity.  Shipped by USPS Priority Mail with insurance.
