Early Edwin forest type knife 1820s. Shown with a few others for size. The handle starts with silver then gold inserts. Most missing on this 200 year old knife. The taper is what I like. The man wearing this wasn`t working in the butcher shop,

Another fine knife Pete!
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Wow, pete, what a sweet group of old knives!

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

What was soldered to the back edge of the knives?
Also did you completely replace the front handle on the bottom knife?

Re: Anyone collect Bowies?
they ran the wire thru the hole in the guard and pipe on the top of the blade and let it slide into wall I guess. These might go back to the very old movies with no sound.

Picked up this English dirk last year.
The handle and sheath are silver plated, it is a heavy little knife.
Never seen one quite like this before.

I don't remember if I showed this one by one of the Folk in the Hangas family @ their Ruana shop in Bonner, Montana. It is a one-off for someone; does not resemble any of their regular knives. They are done by the way.... no more Ruana knives from them. They are hoping to sell to someone who will pick up the custom shop but it may not happen. An era that started in 1938 may be over.
