This waking day will soon be over. Not much happening, as usual. Hoping to see some warmer temperatures before too long, but it ain't looking promising.

Rain stopped here also. Was sleeping good for a change when my dog had to go out. Backyard is fenced in so I let her out to do her business. Now, trying to get back to sleep.

Re: Late Night Lodge
Yet another sleepless night. Insomnia is no fun.
Since nothing helps, including prescription medication, I’m going to chill out and watch tv.
If I have to be awake at this hour at least I can be entertained. Maybe have a drink and cigar outside on the patio.
Night Night to everyone lucky enough to get to sleep. Don’t take it for granted.

Re: Late Night Lodge
Oscar I have had insomnia all my life. Seems like everyone else could be asleep in 5 minutes or less and I’m alway up 1.5 to 2 hrs minimum, sometimes more. I’ve tried a lot of stuff to sleep but I’m will say valerian root tea or pills can help also a cup of sleepy time tea(that’s the name of the blend) and melatonin or valerian root before bed. Ofter times I’m lucky I f I get 5 solid hours in a night.

Re: Late Night Lodge
I can relate Oscar to the sleepiness nights. I’ve been taking ambien and 2 other night time Rx’s to fall asleep for about 20 years now, without them I don’t ever really get into a deep sleep. I have tried a lot of things over the years to help me sleep. One thing I tried in the past year seems to really help to fall asleep. Focus your mind on colors. I imagine a car and then imagine it with different colors of paint. I’ve tried Christmas trees, a white tree and then I imagine red bulbs, then blue, then green, etc. For some reason focusing on colors seems to get me to sleep. It’s easy to get distracted and let your mind wander, but keep it focused on the colors only. Just something that works for me and who knows it might work for you too. Hope you can get some sleep. If this continues, you should discuss this with your doctor, our bodies can’t function without sleep for long.

Re: Late Night Lodge
Hey sharpnshinyknives. After years of this, I have seen a doctor. I was using an herbal remedy that helped for awhile. from Swansons Vitamins (online). When the insomnia got worse, doc prescribed Lunesta which did absolutely nothing. Tried Ambien. Made me very groggy. Didn’t put me to sleep but I’d stagger if I got up for a glass of water.
Then he prescribed Restoril. Works most of the time but not always. I forgo sleep frequently because I don’t want to take the medication on a nightly basis. When your body gets used to the medication it will quit working. I take it after a few sleepless nights. I know it’s not good to not sleep but sleeping with meds isn’t the same as sleeping naturally.
I’ll try your suggestion and hopefully it will help. Thanks very much. Insomnia is horrible.
I’m jealous of people that fall asleep 5 minutes after they lie down.
PS, My doctor said that one possible cause of chronic insomnia is due to thyroid disorders. Mine checks out as normal. It is a simple blood test and might be worth checking.
