Late Night Lodge

Post by MissouriGuerrilla »

Good evening, everyone! Welcome to the new Late Night Lodge. The late answer to the First Cup Diner.
This idea came from many, including me, that posted at night time in the FCD (which is really an early morning riser thread.) So, I thought we might have a new place for those of us that can't get to AAPK until later on at night or into the wee hours. It's an ultimate place! An entire huge building with the pond / waterfall scenery of both Bass Pro AND Cabela's! Pick from one of many recliners and couches to rest yourself! There's PLENTY to go around! There's "The Andy Griffith Show" on the TV and a CD player filled with all sorts of musical taste! Knife magazines and catalogs are on every table! Sweet tea, pop, coffee is on hand and you're free to bring your own  !
All are welcome and I hope y'all enjoy the new digs! ::tu::

The inaugural post......

Good evening to the Late Night Lodge!
Currently 57* and light rain. Looking at a low of 53* and a high tomorrow of 70* with a 40% chance of rain here in the Missouri Ozarks!
I ordered nine different catalogs from knife companies and have received two so far. Shepherd of the Hills and Bear & Sons. Can't wait 'til I get the rest!
Gonna get in some late night computer baseball and some Andy Griffith Show before sacking out.
Hope you all have a great and peaceful night!

Very nice idea, I am up by 7:00 every day but have trouble sleeping (specifically falling asleep for 30 years now)

To keep with the theme- my favorite bass reels are a Quantum Tour Edition which must be pushing 30 years itself and a few Shimano reels which have also been around for decades.

I spent a night in Mt. Airy once and love both Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle, though I no longer get reruns on my current 100 channels with nothing on.

The “It was football” bit from Griffith is hilarious and I thought he was great in “A Face in the Crowd”

I rarely post but thank you for the new thread and wish you all the best.

Hello MG
I think you have a great idea here. Hopefully it will be as successful as the FCD. I stop in there every day and check out all the posts but I seldom post myself. I just enjoy keeping up with what's happening in other parts of the country, and the world, I.E. Cudgee. It's 64* here in northwest Alabama at this hour looking for a high of about 75* tomorrow with thunderstorms. I'm pretty much of a late evening person so I'll try to check in on a regular basis. Once again, best of luck with this new forum. Rick.

Fantastic idea Cudgee! I check out the FCD most mornings. But I’m usually in a rush and don’t post. I’m usually up late at night too. By the time I get the boys and the wife to bed, the house is so quiet and peaceful I just can’t stand to not sit and enjoy it and wind up staying up too late.

I’m on Spring Break this week and I have a looong list of stuff to do, but it’s supposed to rain the next two days sooo. Currently it’s 52° here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky on the Tennessee state line.

And for the record my favorite fishing reels are my old Abu Garcia reels, especially my 4500.

I cain't help but comment on the fishing reels. I have been an avid bass fisherman ever since I was but a boy. I fished local tournaments for several years. I am convinced that the Ambassadeur 5000C is the best ever with my Shimano Bantam not far behind. I still enjoy fishing but I cain't do it all day like I used to.

Great idea Missouri. I usually check in with the morning crowd before I hit the sack at night to see who showed up there late anyway, so a cup of coffee before bed might be just what I need to end the day.____Dave

In on ONE.

I like this idea. I'm always a little hesitant to post in th FCD late at night when I'm usually on-line. I'm only online in the mornings as I am right now - sitting on hold with a warranty claim representative or a customer support troubleshooting rep.

And so it is that I am posting on the LNL in the morning. ::facepalm:: ::mdm:: ::facepalm::

I have two or three of the old 5000C reels. My catfishing rig is an old 6000C, but my favorite bass fishing reel is the 4500C. It’s narrower that the 5000 and a lot more balanced.

I’ve never used it but I have an old 5000D too. It’s direct drive with a bait clicker. Dad has over 100 I’m sure of the old Garcias along with parts, cases, etc.

As to the weather, it’s rained all day. I really need to mow for the first time of the year, but I’d have to have flotation tires to do it!

G'nite Jerryd. I've been holed up all day today here in the house. We've had rain on an off most of the day and I really didn't have anything pressing to do so I just pretty much did nothing. Ah the benefits of retirement! Tomorrow there's more rain in the forecast so I may get to do nothing all over again. 8)

Evening, folks,

Boy, someone pulled the warm temps out from under us here in the Missouri Ozarks! It was a beautiful, warm day with just a breeze and now we have big rains coming from Kansas. The precursor is roaring winds and cold, cold. POOF! Goodbye, nice day!
Gonna peruse my new Bear & Sons catalog, maybe some Andy Griffith Show and call it a night!
Have a great night, everyone! Peace be with you for a good rest.

It was a rainy/drizzly day today so not much going on. More of the same expected Wednesday with some thunderstorms possible and a high of near 80*. Besides knives I also have a weakness for bass fishing. My favorite reels have always been the Ambassadeur 4500C and 5500C paired with All Star and G-Loomis rods. I use the old faithful Mitchell spinning reels. My bass boat is an Astro powered by a Mercury motor. I have a choice locally to fish Pickwick, Wilson, and Wheeler lakes as all are close by. I live close to Pickwick Lake so I fish it more often than not. It has Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted Bass and it is common to catch a mixed limit of any combination of them. Rainy days like today are usually really good days for the Smallmouth in particular. Rick.

Have to admit that I was not familiar with the Abu reels you gents mentioned - a google of same shows reels at $1,000 and up!!!

I’m also a G Loomis fan, but heard they now manufacture in China so my most recent purchase was a St Croix (nice rod but my old Loomis rods are better)

In any event I fished a TVA dam in Loudon/Tellico Tennessee a few times and took both Striped Bass and huge flat head cats on a large mouth set up (12 lb stren, Calcutta 50, 7 ft Loomis )

I’m just getting home from a John Mayer concert (not my idea) and hope to be sleeping soon.

Good night and tight lines!!!

I don’t fish myself, but can vouch for the popularity of Abu Garcia casting reels. Pure Fishing(formerly Berkeley)is in my home area, Spirit Lake, IA. They are the parent company of Abu Garcia, Fenwick, Shakespeare, Fireline, and a dozen or more other fishing tackle companies
The Made in Sweden Garcias have users and collectors all over the world.
My body is confused, didn’t feel good after work so went to bed, slept till midnight and about ready to say good night again.

Wednesday is my night teaching. Trying to give back and help the next generation. Strangely it is actually fun, but it makes for a long day. Now I’m home exhausted, but my mind is racing around in circles. I wont be able to go to sleep for a couple hours and I’ll be dragging my butt tomorrow.

Anyway have a nice night guys.

We had a light drizzle today that I endured, happily, and walked around the pond.
I also cast my Hurd SuperCaster rod/reel with much success.
A few photos and a nod to the posters who remarked about the fishing reels,
These are fine reels.
It's so nice to be in April but the warm weather had eluded us so far. I would sure like to work in my shop.
I could heat it but at these prices it seems like a bit of an extravagance.
Nice thread here and a nice accompaniment to First Cup Diner.

I like this idea. I am usually up and checking in every so often anyway. I need to get back to posting more. Have had a few months that just set me back for awhile.
Is anyone else getting hooked on Motortrend TV? They have some shows on there I don’t care for, but Fantomworks, Bitchin Rides and Iron Resurrection are high on my list. I have enough episodes in the DVR I can watch at night.

I enjoy car shows too. My favorites are Iron resurrection, Road Kill, and Full Custom Garage.

The Mopars on Graveyard cars, absolutely blow me away. But the clowning around gets old.
