Large Case Pocket Knife No Tang Stamp

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Large Case Pocket Knife No Tang Stamp

Post by rlk774 »

I purchased this 5" Case with approx 4" blade knife at an Estate sale along with several other things from WW1 era. The knife has no tang stamp. I am hoping for some details about it before I sell it. I attached some photos. Please let me know if you need more photos. Thank you for any help!

Pile side handles show heavy repair. It looks very likely to me that the blade has been replaced and the knife does not have its original Case blade.

Ditto. Both front bolsters show a poor job of repinning, and obviously the blade is a replacement, which is why there are no tang stamps visible. Too bad, I love that bowtie shield from the tested era or earlier. ::td::
