Greetings, I’m looking for some reputable places to get ball park values on a large collection of knives that I inherited from my step-father. I didn’t want anything from the POS but I guess my mom had them stashed away and I found them when she passed away two years ago. They’ve been sitting in the case they are in untouched for 40+ years. He had a list of what he was collecting and I just went through the set and verified what was actually there. There are quite a few items he didn’t get listed apparently. I’m not a collector myself (at least not of pocket knives). I’m looking for some sources to do some research before I go out and have the set appraised. If I can come up with the ballpark number I’ll know if I’m getting hosed for not knowing the history of what is there.
Thank you.

Recommend you start by reading this thread: viewtopic.php?t=77592
In the posts there you'll find some very good advice, including using ebay sold listings for a source of values. That is the best current source.
Regarding getting an appraisal there are several reputable members here who provide that service.

Thank you Ken, I’ve been searching around this site for several of the items. I’m getting frequent not founds. I haven’t started in on eBay yet. I’m reading the thread you suggested next.

Re: Knife Value Guides
eBay completed listing search is the best price guide. Where and how do you plan on selling? You can always open a store here as well.
