Case 6318 SS Boy Scout Medium Stockman

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Case 6318 SS Boy Scout Medium Stockman

Post by JKendall »

I recently purchased this knife and wanted to get some more information about it. I tried looking up the stamp for the age but couldn’t find one that matched. I also wanted to confirm if the green bone handle is real bone or not depending on the age of the knife. Thank you for any information!

Welcome to AAPK. The knife is genuine bone. IIRC they called that olive bone. The age can be determined by data here in the Research section (click on Research in the header at top of this page). Scroll down to find Case Pocket Knife Age Identificationhttps://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/content/kn ... ification/. Find the tang stamp that matches the stamp on your knife. Count the number of dots and X's remaining on your stamp and read per the directions.

The Boy Scouts actually had Case produce 4 different 6318 SS variations to date as "Officially Licensed":

1. BSA#7999, a Non-Commemorative knife from 2013 with Rough Red Delrin handles that listed for $86.90 and typically sold for around $55.

2. BSA #8030, a Non-Commemorative knife from 2005 with Olive Green Bone handles that listed for $94.00 and typically sold for around $60.

3. BSA #8052, a Non-Commemorative knife from 2007 with Jigged Bone handles that listed for $103.50 and typically sold for around $65.

4. BSA #8060, an Eagle Scout Commemorative knife from 2011 with Dark Red Jigged Bone handles that listed for $178.00 and typically sold for around $115.

Hope that helps. Tom
