Schrade Scrimshaw Info please

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Schrade Scrimshaw Info please

Post by toolio »

Hello guys.
I am in need of some opinions and guidance, at the same time. This is my first post. Yea, yea, we all gotta be a newby at one time or another.
I was a Snao-On Tool Dealer up until the end of 1999. One of my display cases, has been buried in my garage all this time. It included roughly 12 Schrade Scrimshaw knives already displayed, and there were no boxes or paper work for any of them. Also in the display case was a selection of Schrade Oid Timer knives, some Barlow's, some Parker-Frost's, and a couple George Wostenholm pearl handle knives. All, are NOS, and still in the original box, some are just loose with no box or documentation.
My question is, should I consider trying to sell the Scrimshaw series as a loose set, or attempt to sell one at a time? Would cleaning them up lessen the value or should I leave 'em alone?
Thanx in advance for any feed back, good or bad. Toolio
