Case XX Halloween knives
Just wondering if anyone knows when this started and how many different models are out there? I am speaking of the Linda Karst scrimshaw knives. Thank you, John

Re: Case XX Halloween knives
John, this is by no means definitive, but FWIW the first reference to “Halloween knife” I find on the Case Collector’s Club Forum was September 2005. It was an announcement from Case about an orange laser engraved Copperlock, to be released in October 2005, limited run of 300 knives. However in subsequent member posts from October 2005 there are pictures of other patterns having the Halloween themed laser-engraved handles and blade etches.
The first reference of a Linda Karst Halloween knife I found was was from 2010. I don’t know if that was the first knives Karst did or just the first time anyone put up a post with her name in it.
Hope that helps. Someone here may know more but if not send an email to Case and ask them. Consumer-relations@wrcase.com

Re: Case XX Halloween knives
I started collecting back in the mid 2000's, got away from it and now back. Now my focus is 54 Trappers, primarily natural handles. Well I've been spending a lot of time researching for the past several weeks and found a something else that peaks my interest but is far from my main focus............Halloween!!!! All I can say is these knives make me smile and feel like a kid......... I would like to find out as much as I can about these.
I am asking everyone to contribute where they can. My request would be for a pic of the knife and box label. Also pics of the literature from the day showing these. Doing a search on here turned up only two case threads on the subject. This one and the one I posted from below. Please post any other info you all have and correct anything I have wrong. Keep in mind I'm looking at 54 Trappers but understand others will want this info on all patterns, there are a lot of holes to fill in. SO far I think I've learned;
> These probably started in 2005? I have found pics of a Muskrat dated 2004 Item No 054281 1 of 232 I have pics of the knife and label.
> The first trapper appears to be 2006?
> Most seem to have been Shepherd Hills exclusives?
> You will see the same design on different patterns but not in the same year.
> There have been a number of micro runs actually hand scrimshawed by Linda Karst. At least 2 different 54 Trappers she did 10 each.
> Most are Persimmon Orange scales but recently there have been a few Dark Red Bone. There is also washed natural bone and possibly Natural bone and pearl corelon.
> Somewhere around 2013 or 2014 it appears they made 100 with scrolled bolsters in velvet gift box and 350 standard and continued that trend. The group of the first 4 appear to have production of 350,350, 232, 232.
Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this forum in the past. I hope I am able to contribute as my knowledge expands.

I have a 2015 CASE XX HALLOWEEN LINDA KARST RUSSLOCK KNIFE with scrolled bolsters, but unlike everything I have come across online, it does not have a number indicating only limited made. Everything I have found, which is the same model with scrolled bolster has a number on the blade. This is making confused, and if anyone can clarify this for me I would appreciate it.""""""""""""""

I know nothing about these myself so out of curiosity I went to the Case Collectors Club forum to see what I could find. Apparently these Karst knives were done by Shepherd Hills Cutlery, a limited number done by Karst and some were “designed by Karst” but mass produced using a laser to copy the design. There’s some discussion there about “watered down” values due to the mass production. You might contact SHC and ask them the difference. https://www.casexx.com/Others/Contact.asp Also found a picture of one with no number on a CCC forum post.""""""""""""""

I will have to do that since there is not any other info on it out there. I figured it was more mass produced but it is weird how it is harder to find anything about a mass produced version.""""""""""""
>>>>>So I emailed Shepherd Hill and found out this knife is 1 of 8.
This is what the email said: These were a series we did back in 2015. The factory forgot to number the blades when they scrolled the bolsters. We didn't catch it until a few had been sent out. At the time the original purchaser was given the option to keep as is for a one off knife or send it back to us to have the serial number put on the blade. There were about 8 folk that opted to keep as is. This is one of only 8 that have scrolled bolsters but no serial number on the blade."""""""""""""

Re: Case XX Halloween knives
Pics showing what May be the first issue of Halloween knives, and how the same image has been used on different patterns in different years.
