Folding carvers, whatcha got?

Post by EeDeCe »

I know, they're all carvers in a way, but some more specialized than others. I've been giving wood carving a go. I don't want a specialized fixed blade wood knife, so I've been looking for folding alternatives. I've found a few, most are obvious, some not.

Top left: Rough Rider Congress, Boker Congress below that, Case Seahorse Whittler. On the top right, the Old Timer Splinter Carving Knife. Then the ones I found but there's almost nothing out there about them, all $20-40: Mastercarver Pocket Whittler II and 2 Sarge knives. The 2 blade Sarge seems like more of a chip carving knife I guess, the other a straightforward carver. I've found nothing on it, just spotted it on ebay. All 3 are 440C, wood scales, Chinese made knives. The Master Carver is surprisingly really nice. The Sarges are nice looking, sharpen up well and while the action is firm, it's rough on both of them even after oiling. The Master Carver and Boker have become my favorites.

What else is out there?

So that's the oar carver I've seen mentioned, I couldn't find one anywhere to see if it was even in the budget. Looks really nice. ::tu::
