case xx fix blade black handle

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

I am new here and with knives so I might be asking already answered questions
I have some 2 Finn 65 to 69 knives that have a black handle . these handles have started changing or fading to a grey in spots . If you have had some old snap-on screw drivers they do the same thing . they appear to be un sharpened an will be put up for sale .is there anything that can be done how bad does this affect value

Welcome to AAPK.

The answer depends on what has caused the discoloration. Since you haven’t provided any pictures of the problem, I’ll have to guess. It could be faded from exposure to sunlight, in which case there’s probably not anything that will restore it. However it could be oxidation from age, which most folks here call “Delrin haze”. If that’s the problem it can be remedied without hurting the value of the knife. Here’s a link to some info on how to remove Delrin haze. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=47409#p489096

I recently had that same problem on a Case 1980's era fixed blade with a smooth black handle. Try rubbing the handle with mineral oil. Then leave the handle wrapped in a paper towel with mineral oil overnight. Wipe it down the next day.
