Found in pawn shop today
I'm not really a collector but I buy knives that appeal to me or to use in the field. Found this set today at a pawn shop. Can anyone give me any info on it? Year? Does it have any collector value before I throw it in my hunting bag? Blades dont look to have ever been sharpened.

Thank you Stan. I appreciate it. Couldnt find much info online about it. Any idea of a realistic value? I saw 2 on ebay...one was about 1k....1 was 680.

Re: Found in pawn shop today
These are no where in the same area as the combo knife-axe. I sold an identical one in unused condition for $125 two years ago after trying to get $150 for a couple years. Being as a good modern hunting knife can cost over a hundred bucks, I'd say use it if you like. I don't find that Case 5F knife the best design for all around hunting/camp work myself but I am sure some do.

That is a charming set in nice condition. I would not use it up but, as has been said, each owner needs to decide. Not super high dollar but just nice. I would be fondling it occasionally and just having it around somewhere handy to look at. Just me.

Gunsil is right. The Knife-ax combo sets having a knife and hatchet that fit interchangeably into a single handle bring a lot, but sets like yours sell on eBay occasionally, and bring around $125-$150. Curious that your knife and hatchet don’t exhibit use but the sheath looks worn. Maybe just aging of the leather?
For a useful tool yours is a lot more practical IMHO. But the collector value just doesn’t drive up the price like the Knife-ax sets, which although less useful are more collectable.

Very nice. I have one that is very similar. Your set, your choice. Mine only gets displayed.

Agree, Ken. The set in the opening post is much more useful, but the Knif/ax sets have a little more cool factor. Strapping either one to a belt seems inconvenient as heck though. In a hunting pack, a real handy tool set.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 12:13 am Gunsil is right. Re: Found in pawn shop today
I'm assuming the sheath is worn from age, or maybe someone that carried it for looks. I only spotted the end of the knife sheath in a plastic tote. Love finding cool stuff in pawn shops. Generally if I havent seen it they havent either and have no clue what the value is.

Re: Found in pawn shop today
Nice set although not exactly rare, I would think the value at the pre mentioned price of $125-$150 is right on.
