Need information

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Need information

Post by Cray7 »

I’ve been looking for a certain case knife and the color is Grey Bone, and I’ve attached a picture with them in it. I was just wanting to know if someone could give me some more info about them or where I could buy one at.

Thanks in advance

Nowadays Case changes colors on their bone handles about as often as most people change underwear. As was said, knowing the year the knife was made might help, but I suspect unless they’re fairly recent, retail dealers will have sold out. I looked on the Shepherd Hills Cutlery site and didn’t find that color there. If you check eBay for “Case grey bone” there are quite a few available.

Looks like you have a 1971 6375 large stockman, a (can't make out the tang stamp) 5254 trapper and a used and cherished fixed blade. Pictures of the other sides of the knives would help, ::welcome:: to AAPK.

Going by the shield, the Trapper looks like 1940-64, can you see an "XX" under the "CASE" tang stamp?

The fixed blade might be a 1932-40 3-FINN but that stamp doesn't quite match up to my reference book, so ::shrug::

Welcome to AAPK. Looks like others have provided the answers you’re seeking.

Since you’re new here I’ll assume you haven’t had time to look around much. Up there in the light grey header at the very top of the page is a link to the “Research” portion of AAPK. By clicking on “Research” you will be taken to information from which you can answer the type of questions you’ve asked. Once that link opens, scroll down to the section on Case knives, where you can learn how and where to find pattern numbers on the knife, how to tell how old your knife is, what material the handles are made of, and more.

Glad you’re here. Look around and ask questions. ::tu::

Cray 7, Shepard Hills still had some gray bone, but I havn't checked to see what patterns. They also had one 6347 stockman in burnt gray bone. Not sure if these are the colors you are looking for.
