Clauss Knives Were Made by Case??

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Clauss Knives Were Made by Case??

Just asking for information. Were Clauss knives (Fremont, Ohio) made by Case? (This is a pretty knife, but is it really a Case?) I have had quite a few Clauss knives pass through my hands over the years and had no idea they were made by Case. However, I do like to learn something new every day. :D

Clauss contracted to have knives made by several companies including Case, Queen, Challenge and others. A knowledgeable collector can usually match the pattern and construction of a Clauss to an identical pattern from the company that made it. A search here for ”Clauss” will find hundreds of posts with pictures and info. Here’s a couple of threads about Clauss for example:

I have one Clauss made by Case. It's easy to tell because it looks and feels just like a Case.

I agree. For posterity here’s the OP knife. The jigging does look similar to Case, but the rest of it doesn’t. JMO

Thanks much, very interesting threads to follow! I don't think the one I was looking at was made by Case, but of course, now I have to find one that was. In any event, its always fun to open an old can of worms.
