Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.
This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.
At the request of some people that wanted to see what was in the roll I teased a photo of I have decided to start a new thread showing some of those knives. Hopefully it can get the ball rolling per se and everyone can post groups of their schrades here as well.

WANTED: Shapleigh Diamond Edge branded Schrades in good condition.
Here are some old photos of stuff, all obsolete. Much more now, and a lot has gone away, but maybe of interest. The Schrade Walden frame holds only celluloid knives.
Wow! Just Wow! Now I know how these guys from A Christmas Story feel!
I also know why beauties like those posted above are so hard to find.... you have them all.
Your collections are inspiring.
I am not much of a photographer doing this sort of thing. Years ago I was tramping in the boondocks with a medium format 120 film camera and doing landscape work; I had a full dark room and printed my own stuff up to 11X14 in B&W only. I still have all that equipment, several $K worth back in the day, not worth shipping now probably. Anyway I took one cigar box of celluloids out to the patio and gave it a shot. I have about ten of these cigar boxes full of celluloid knives on a long shelf in a protected area. I don't keep them with my other knives but I love these knives even though they are bastards and never circumsized or baptized. So here is BOX A.
What a great collection Cal!...
...so I noticed in Box B the Cut Co fruit / melon / meat tester knife with the black handles... obtained a couple of those recently...
is the solid black handles with the 'raised" jigging really celluloid or some other different kind of plastic composition?
it was a tough choice... but box C is my favorite...
Thanks for the kind words, all; I have always assumed that the black sampler knife was handled in celluloid. I have a heavily worn CutCo muskrat that used to be the Hawbaker type, handled in the black jigged material also. There again, I have assumed celluloid.
As a Schrade collector, I see a few that are unfamiliar to me, but a lot of them could be Schrades. There is a stockman there that is definitely a Schrade. What a nice batch!
