I realize this is not a pocket knife, but I'm hoping a collector has some insight on this one and can share some info. I picked this up at a estate auction. It's a English bowie knife and sheath. O n the blade it has "Crown Cutlery Co. Sheffield". The total length of blade is 7 1/4 inches. Can someone tell me when these knives were made and for who they were basically made for. Thank you.
Did a cursory check in Goins book and it shows Crown Cutlery as being in New York;Austria;Germany;and the Rhineland but no listing for a Sheffield made model. It looks to be circa 1900 but the sheath does not look original to the knife. A mystery for now
