Narrow down manufacturing date from blade combo?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Post by TripleF »

Customer wants to know if the blade combo can narrow down the date of production from 20 years (1920 - 1940)?

Any help would be appreciated!

Scott, I looked through Steve's earlier Case book and didn't see anything in there that would help your customer. I looked under the 45 frame listing for camp/utility knives. That is 3 3/4 in closed?

Zero chance to nail it down further. It's a Tested 640045R pattern. The only Tested catalogs are from the 1930-1936 period, and it is listed in them. But of course was most likely in production earlier than that, it's just that there are no catalogs in existence to be able to verify.
