Old Case Bros Little Valley tested xx help

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Old Case Bros Little Valley tested xx help

Post by JamaicaJim »

I just picked this unusual Case Bros Little Valley tested xx knife. I think it may be an Elephant toe or Sunfish model but not sure. It is heavey and Case all metal.
It weighs 9 ounces. Measures approximately 4” x 1 1/8” not including blades.

Can someone tell me what I actually have and what it may be worth?

Thanks

I'm going to say it could very well be an old elephant toe whose natural handles expired some time ago and the owner thought it would be a good idea to replace them with liquid steel. Current value.... about the price of a tube of liquid steel. :D

Welcome to AAPK!

A Case elephant toenail (50) pattern should be 4-3/8 inches, blades closed length. Measure yours exactly, not approximately. It looks like a toenail so if it's that length then you probably have what remains of one. In knife collecting values, condition is everything. Whatever the knife is it's in pretty bad condition. Not much remains of the blades, and I'm not sure what's up with the handles. ::shrug:: Sorry to say, not worth much.
