Help with Identifying These Scales

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Help with Identifying These Scales

Post by donjr »

Can anyone help me identifying what type of bone scales are on this old XX 6332? They appear to be very pocket worn. Thanks in advance for your replies! donjr

donjr,
You probably know Case sells knives with new "Pocket Worn" handles, I believe your knife is as you described it, very pocket worn! A very nice one to have, the shield even shows the wear. ::tu::

Are you sure that is a "5332" and not a "6332"?? In Case numbering, 5 is stag, and 6 is Bone or Synthetic. I'm no expert, but that looks like smooth red bone to me.

Agree, started as jigged bone. Now well worn but may also have seen a buffer. ::hmm:: Bolsters and shield are awful shiny for pocket worn - don't see the usual pocket scratches.
