I bought this Winchester by Case last week. It is listed in the price book that I have as a 6291 made during the tested era. The knife appears to be legit to me. It is 4 1/2" long. The scales on the back side are much lighter than the scales on the front side. The blades have some minor pitting that has been lightly cleaned in my opinion, but appear to be full blades. Both blades have really good snap and pull and the small spey blade has a 1/2 stop. The handles have an awesome pocket wear on them with no chips or cracks to the bone. I have some questions.
First off, is this knife legit in your opinions? I have never had one of these and I have been fooled before.
When was this knife made and for how long did Case make this knife?
Why are the handles different colors? I have thought about them being changed out, but they both appear to have the same pocket wear on the bone and pins.
When this knife came out, was it marketed with guns or ammo? Or was it simply a stand alone knife?
Just wondering more about the history of this particular knife. I know that some of the Case Classic knives had some Winchester on them also. The only ones that I have seen are the big cigar pattern like this one. I am assuming they were celebrating this knife that had been made years ago.
I almost hate posting pics on here because mine are very sub par to most that I see on here, so sorry about the bad pictures.
thanks

Re: Winchester by Case
I believe your knife is legit.I have seen a couple on EBay over the last 15 years. The classic/Winchester are suppose to be a copy of the original. The cigar is the only pattern I have heard of Case making a Knife for Winchester.I have a Schrade Cut.made Winchester English jack, and have seen a couple others of the same pattern, but none no other patterns.
The difference in bone color doesn't bother me,not that uncommon.

Looks okay to me. Not an easy knife to find.
Here is one that I have. The second blade is down some and but does have a half stop like yours.

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Wow!! That is a nice one. They are not easy to find. I have looked for a while and finally came up with this one. Condition was not quite like I wanted on mine, but I absolutely love the pocket worn bone on this particular knife. Someone carried the knife I have for a while and did not use the blades near as much as the pocket wear shows. The tang stamp appears to be deeper on the knife you have thank on mine. It makes me wonder just how much the knife I have has worn down over the tang.
Peanut 740, thank you for your reply. It helps my answer some of my questions.
