That's a wild-looking jack. Spey and coping blade? I'm almost positive that's the first time I've seen that blade combination.

Steve, are there more or less rare combinations on that frame from around this time? The knife commanded respectable money but not "extremely rare Case" money.

Pattern # 0024

These knives are 3″ swell end jack knives that are called Little John Carvers. They have two blades that extend from the right side of the knife. The master is a spey, and the second a coping blade. Case began producing this knife sometime before 1940, and discontinued it sometime before 1964. They came with a wooden carving block.

I think I've spent too much time staring at pictures of knives on ebay. I seem to be able to find something wrong with most of them. I don't know about the blade configuration on this but thought the tang stamp was a cold stamp and almost a double stamp. It looked really odd. I appreciate the insight provided on posts like these. It's a tremendous learning experience.

Case made the 220024 SP for a very short period - from 1958 to mid 1961 according to Case factory price lists. It was offered individually as a standard product knife and as part of the "Little John Carver" kit. The complete kit is wort from 600-800. Quite rare. Both the knife and the kit wre introduced in 1958 and discontinued by mid 1961.

I have owned several of the knives, none has had a pattern number stamped.

While I'm not a Case collector I'm always amazed at the depth of knowledge by the members of this forum backed by photos and lineage. You Case collectors bring knife collecting to a new level. Keep up the good work and information sharing.
