Case Tested 6235 1/2 Rough Black

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Case Tested 6235 1/2 Rough Black

Post by waggo71 »

I love this pattern, however don't have anything this old. Anyone have any concerns about the veracity of this piece? Shield looks to be from Case XX era but I imagine there was some transition period where you see some mix / match. Any comments much appreciated, including thoughts on current market value, probably have to pass if it gets too crazy.

Waggo,
The knife looks fine to me. As far as current market value, I'd say the knife is near mint, in the $150 to $175 range. Good luck.

I paid $200 for mine, that's running on the line of book value I believe, but I also think these are undervalued. maybe one day that will be adjusted :) I Can post of a pic of mine shortly

Nice knife there XxTestedXx. I'd say $200 was a good buy for a mint knife like yours with the long pull. Those are getting harder to find. Prices have dropped off somewhat and folks are holding on to them.

Thanks!

I love the rough black knives, and anything with a long pull, I believe I have 7 or 8 now, I will make a post of them all soon :)
