Help on info of 2005 Case Knife Display Case, OCC 5 knives
Hi. First time on site. I was hoping someone could help give my information about a 2005 Case knife shadow box with 5 Orange County Choppers Knives. It has the item number 03449 on the back of the display case. I know it is rare, but I can't find information anywhere on the internet about it and I'm wanting to sell it, but have no idea of the value. I found other special edition shadow boxes for sale in the $800-$1000 dollar ranges but nothing orange chopper. Can anyone help me out with this?

First of all, welcome to AAPK! As for your question, my advice is to go to ebay and do an advanced search of completed auctions for Case special edition sets. This will tell you what the items actually sold for and thus give you a better idea about value than looking at what price someone is asking for the item. Then look for sets with 5 knives, and if possible 5 trappers which is the type of knife in this set.
You have a sort of good news/bad news situation in that trappers are fairly popular with collectors (easier to sell) but they are a common pattern (nothing unusual to drive up the price). Orange County Choppers is kind of a specialized taste, so may be harder to find a buyer, but if you do find someone interested they may be willing to pay a premium price. If you can get two such someone's into a bidding war on eBay you have the best chance to get top dollar. So, a lot depends on how long you're willing to wait to sell the set. My rule of thumb would be $50-70 per knife for trappers, plus $50-100 for it being a boxed set. So maybe $350-500 average for a set like this. If you find the right buyer you may get more. If you want to sell quick, offer it for less. Disclosure - I don't collect these and am not interested in buying them so don't have any agenda. Just my opinion - you know what they say about free advice!
Some others may come along and have a different opinion. Lots of friendly, knowledgeable folks on this forum.
Good luck!

Thanks for your input. I just talked to a seller from ebay and he believes between $500- and $600. But for anyone else I'm still interested in knowing your opinion and if you have any leads to a potential buyer. Thanks

Welcome to AAPK! On the subject of your question...Good Luck! LOL! My dad has this same set and we've not found out much about his set either. If you read the certificate, you'll see its not a regular "mint" set that's limited to several hundred sets. Its quite a bit more rare than that. IIRC, the trappers in that set are not the same OCC trappers that were mass produced. That's about all I can add. Myself, I've not ever seen another set that has sold so I could judge a value for them.
