I sent the knives out on March 29 and Bill Howard looked at my knives on Saturday March 31. That means they should have been available for rework on April 2, I do not know what day they started. I got them back on the morning of April 30,
so turn around was 1 month including shipping. They used UPS or Fed Ex (I forget because I had some knife making supplies on my doorstep that day also). (

). It takes 5 days to go across country by either of these shippers. GEC being a true start up more than likely does not yet have a rework procedure in place. Rework is very costly and slows down the manufacturing processes.
1 month is very good for a start up company, I say that because I spent a couple decades doing QC work and understand manufacturing, rework and QC extremely well and I did do this work under one start up company. I also bring it up not to defend GEC, but share with you a small bit of the complexities of what I know in the manufacturing world.
The complexities of any start up are ten fold, not everyone is sure of their complete roles yet and they are developing along the way. QC is QC, same techniques and procedures, doesn't matter what industry it's in, just a couple slight modifications and away you go.
Well, enough of my ::blah:: ::blah:: you want to see the pictures.
The only thing I see is that the red jigged bone is different on the front vs. the back. One pin looks a little sunken, it is in a groove. Same for the Horsecut, just not as noticeable.
You can still see some very small cuts from the jigging into the bolster. This is definitely from the buffer. I took my big 1 HP 10 inch 1725 RPM buffer and did a test over the weekend. I bought some wormgroove last week and attached a left over piece on an old bolster and was able to duplicate the same thing.

The 10 inch wheel gave some pretty big cuts even with a loose Muslin wheel.
I called this morning and They were glad to hear some positive feedback from a customer, usually they don't hear back.
