JFP 109X
Hey all,
This little 109X came from Jim Parker’s personal knife collection, one of the few that were offered after Jim’s passing. His initials are engraved on the backside of the main blade; it’s accompanied by a signed certificate from Buzz Parker, Jim’s son. Time will tell if more are offered to the public.
Now, say what you will about James Parker, in my opinion he brought more excitement to the factory knife industry with the “Classics” line than had been introduced in the previous 50 years (maybe longer). The popularity of the “Classics” line is testimony to that. It would appear that many manufacturers today are capitalizing on the idea of bringing back the oldies. The unfortunate turn of events in his business structure that caused the bankruptcy of W.R. Case & Sons and the subsequent sale of the “collection” caused outrage. They were his knives! He paid back all of his creditors in full. W.R Case & Sons was sold, and they got their collection back.
Throughout history, long before Mr. Parker came along, the same type of circumstances plagued W.R Case & Sons, along with nearly every other knife maker - hell, every other business!
For what it’s worth, I think he was a brilliant man, who loved knives!
Take care all…………………………………

Hey Gary,
That is one beautiful Case Classic 109X with Red Apple Coral handles
, it is a rare piece to begin with being categorized a Prototype & considered ultra rare with Jim's initials engraved on the main, what a great find indeed!!! ....Gary, could you please post a photo of the COA that came with this grand knife?
My good friend Gary is right friends, Jim did so much for all of us that enjoy knife collecting in the hobby, if not for Jim & his insight on the knives produced in his dream, the "Case Classic program" myself as well as others would not have the knife collections we prize so much today!

Re: JFP 109X
No argument there, he probably did more for knife collecting than anyone. Here's another knife with his initials that popped up and I snagged, not a Classic, not even a Case, but a SFO edition Bulldog Thor model. 4 1/8 inch Warncliffe Whittler. Well, I put it here merely because it's another initialed knife.gmusic wrote:Hey all,

Hi jonet,
All we can do is speculate. I do know he let a few of them go (seemed like 5-10) then pulled the plug. Can you imagine how many knives Jim Parker had in his collection!
Everything is for sale sooner or later; even the Duchess of Windsor’s jewellery collection was sold.

I gave my son a large part of my collection already. I don't expect that he will keep all of them, he may for a while. I do expect he will keep a few. I would think the same of Jim Parker's collection, his family will sell some off now and then, they will command a premium because Jim Parker is still the Grandfather of knife collecting, always will be.

Jim Parker was to knife collecting what Colt was to the revolver –
especially to those of us who appreciate the ‘many’ brands he, at one time or another, owned or was personally involved with.. (which the number is staggering!) Most of you are familiar with the stag handled Bulldog Congress pattern produced in a run of 100 honoring Jim… Here’s a prototype of that knife & cert also from Buzz… Gary

Collecting XXX, Sectioned & Stag handled Case Classics and production & custom Auto's...

Thanks CC!
I bought several knives from him as Silverladdie on eBay and from the catalog before his passing, never did get to meet him. Spoke with him on the phone; he seemed like a true southern gentleman.
Well put Gary,
That's a nice red you have there. I picked up two of the plain stag commemoratives’, but that red stag is great stuff!
