Ruger Hand Gun Value

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Ruger Hand Gun Value

Post by 9ball »

Anybody here got an ideal what this may be worth? Ballpark?
I bought it new about 25 years ago and still have all paperwork that came with it.

I am thinking about taking & trading/selling at gun show in town this week-end.

Thanks for comment in advance.

Hi 9Ball,

This is probably not a very good comparison but I traded a nickel verison of the security six last year for $275. Mine had no box or paperwork but had not been shot many times. I had looked on auction arms at the time to try to get some comparisons you might try that web site for a little investigation..

Nice gun !!! Good luck, here's hoping you get lots of mula$$$$

Howdy Rick,

That looks like a nice piece.

Just as a little added information, the Security Six was introduced around 1971, and retired from the line in 1988. The newer GP100...blued...4" barrel...in .357, goes for about $440 + taxes around the Phoenix area.

Good luck with the sale/trade.

Thanks for the info Folks,

I told the Boss Saturday morning what I was planning to do with the Ruger handgun and believe it or not, the first thing she said was;
"What do you what to do that for? You've had that a long time!". 8)

I explained to her about the weight (2 pounds 8 ounces loaded) and after about 4 or 5 hours of punching holes in paper, it tends to wear down your arm. Plus I need one for business a little smaller, but same caliber. Too that she replied "Just buy ya another!"

And that is why she is "The Boss"! ::tu::

Anyway, I came home with a new Ruger 10-22 yesterday. Has anybody tried those new 50 round drum mags they make now for them?

There is usually two shows a month in Knoxville, so I am going to check a couple of local shops out. If I do not find what I am looking for there, I will be back at the shows in March.

To all; One gent I talked with said that four hundred is good "Ballpark" figure for that style.
Ruger started putting a "Warning" stamp on their barrels sometime in the mid 80's and those without will bring a little more also.
