camillus knife question.
hello, i was wanting some info on a few camillus knives. i found some on the 179 stockman. but haven't found anything on the trapper. it a lg. 2 blade trapper, shield has no name. tang on blade has the crossed swords and sword brand name. on back of blade reads camillus over 844 over u.s.a. thanks for any info. denny

The trapper looks like a 29 pattern. I've seen Camillus with the sword front shield and the pattern number on the back like that, but do not know when they were made. I could not find the 844 pattern number anywhere either.

Tom Williams told me that prior to WWII, Sword Brand (denoting Camillus' top of the line knives) was stamped on the knives.
After WWII most of the Sword Brand knives were etched, not stamped.
However, it appears those handles may be Delrin. If so, that would put it closer to the 1960s or later.
