camillus knife question.

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

The trapper looks like a 29 pattern. I've seen Camillus with the sword front shield and the pattern number on the back like that, but do not know when they were made. I could not find the 844 pattern number anywhere either.

Tom Williams told me that prior to WWII, Sword Brand (denoting Camillus' top of the line knives) was stamped on the knives.
After WWII most of the Sword Brand knives were etched, not stamped.
However, it appears those handles may be Delrin. If so, that would put it closer to the 1960s or later.

Interesting knife. Thanks for sharing it.
