Old Military Knife by Kingston

Post by Paladin »

Here are some photos of a recently acquired old knife and there were no grand expectations regarding it. When it arrived I found that the previous or original owner had scratched his name and date and location on the handle. The handle is marked:
D. N. Hubbard Oct 3, 1945
Lipa Luzon
Philippine Islands

What I would really like to be able to do is to present the knife to Mr. HUbbard or a surviving relative such as a son or daughter.
I have Googled him with no useable results. I looked on one military site and find nothing helpful there.
I am not sure I have the computer skills to track this down. I could use help/suggestions/whatever.
The tang of the master blade is stamped USA. The bail is stamped KINGSTON and US 45. Kingston was a joint venture by Ulster and Imperial.
The knife was not found in Silveys book but there was some help there. Silvey says that the Marines wanted the screw driver blade to open at the same end of the knife as the master blade. That is the case with this knife, so it may have belonged to a Marine. Navy maybe??
If anybody has connection to a senator or a general or someone who might help on this let me hear from you. If you have great computer skills that might enable this individual to be located, jump on this!

Ray,
I just emailed a letter to Senator Mitch McConnell asking for his assistance in locating Mr Hubbard or one of his survivors. With Veterans Day coming up in a week it sure would be nice if Mr. Hubbard could be located. Hopefully other AAPK members will tap in to whatever resources they may have available to them to assist you in this effort.
Good luck.

Thank you, Phil!! I appreciate the help. ::tu:: ::tu::
Wouldn't it be great if the senator found this as interesting as we do. He could put real weight behind the search.
