Boker Tree Brand Knife
Well, long story short, about 10 years ago, my grandfather passed away and left me a handful of pocket knife's and other various knife's. I work with a couple of guys who are hobbyist collectors and decided that I'd bring a couple in to show them. One of which is a Boker Tree Brand Classic Congress style knife. One blade has the Tree Brand logo stamped into the blade as well as 5474 and Boker, Solingen Germany, and the Tree Brand tree logo. The tree brand logo that goes most of the length of the blade doesn't look like a lot of the Boker Tree Brand logos on knife's that I've found on ebay and other websites with some light research. The knife also has the tree logo on the side and has a wooden handle, also something that I didn't see much of while researching it as most that I've found have bone handles. The wood appears to be Mahogany though. I'll add some pics later this evening when I get home, but would like to find out some information on the knife. It looks as if it may have been bought and just put away in a drawer and never used.

Looks like the real deal to me. Very nice looking older Boker.

Welcome to AAPK.
It looks like a German Boker.
I think your assessment that it was purchased and then put in a drawer may be correct.
Nice knife.

Re: Boker Tree Brand Knife
Thanks for the pictures. I have the same knife with stag handles. Other than the handles, everything else looks to be the same. Mine is not a very old knife, but I got it from someone other than an authorized dealer so I'm not sure how old it is. I would guess your knife is relatively recent production, say post 1980 but I'm not entirely certain of that. I have another Boker Classic that I got in the early 80s but the etch is long gone on it. They still produce that line to the best of my knowledge.
I would estimate value in the $50 range give or take a few bucks.

From time to time I get interested in Bokers. I compiled a page at my site about them. I have some more history I need to put there when I get a chance but this might be some good reading with a link ot two as well. I was always more attracted to the Boker USA stamped knives. However I think Im right in saying that even the USA stamped Bokers had steel purchased from their cousins in Germany. A very good steel(Solingen) in my opinion!

Your Boker has the 1970s or 80s look about it. This bone scale congress (circa early 1970s) has a similar blade etch. I have the pen, stockman and whittler in this series also.

Steve,
Great looking Boker.
I really like the looks of that jigged bone and those bolsters.

You are correct; I remember when these were available.Luckypaul777 wrote:to AAPk; I am sure there is someone here that can; tell you what you want to know. Just a guess; I would say made in the 1970's; and as Dale said it's a nice old German Boker congress. With a value of $45-$65; but belonging to your grandfather I am sure the value far exceeds that. I have an old Boker half-congress; that I got from my sister when my dad passed; it's the most valuable knife to me that I own.
