The property is up in what we call Mallee country, a fairly dry and harsh climate with huge properties where you have to be of a certain character to survive, you can see by the photo the huge tract of land that they are harvesting. Hope you all have a good weekend. ::tu:: ::handshake::

Kinda reminds me of south Texas farming. With those GPS guided steering systems, you can take a nice nap before reaching the end of the row and having to turn your tractor around. ::nod::

Dem shirt Ken!
:x
That's prime crop land, only to be turned into a waste/bird killing zone. All for some idiot's wonderful pet project.
::td::
And not to mention all the environmental impacts just building 1 turbine blade.
Instead of building a couple small reactors (not on a fault line!), they do all this sheer idiotic stuff. ::facepalm::
Wonder how much politicians are getting paid to cook up this shirt?!...

Cool pictures everyone and cool 🐦 bird!

I gave my neighbor"s boy a couple of knives last week (Camillus Cubscout and a little Buck s.s. lockback) and he sent me this thank you card! Between my uncle and myself we've probably given him 6-8 knives the last few years. He just turned 13 and already has a nice little collection started! I'm glad we stoked his interest, hopefully he'll be a knifer for life!!

Thanks for the great pictures Ken. Your roses are beautiful and that bird is too. ::tu:: Thw only bird we have here in Texas to rival that is the reclusive Painted Bunting. Totally different bird but has most of the same colors. Here’s a picture of one for comparison.

Really nice pictures, as usual, Koldgold!

Great gesture, Ryan.

Ken, how often do you see Painted Buntings down there in the Republic of Texas?

The only colorful birds we have in SoCal are the occasional escaped pet parrot. Several years ago I was walking out of a store, and sitting on a street light was a big green parrot. Definitely one of the oddest things I've ever seen in town! I have no idea where it came from or where it went.

Not often enough! They come to the feeders occasionally. We had one that came daily for several weeks this summer to the feeder just outside our kitchen window. I posted a few pictures of it in the ornithology thread at the time. I suspect we will see some at the feeders this winter before they migrate. But mostly they stay secluded in the brush and woods along the creek bottoms, where they are difficult to see. The females and juveniles are green, they don’t sport the bright colors of adult males.
