Nice! I like the slightly larger frame penknives. They 're more reasonable as an EDC as opposed to the super-small 2 1/2-2 3/4ones. I don't mind the smaller ones, but it's just the those around 3.5" or so that are better suited as a main pocketknife, as opposed to a shirt or watch pocket backup.

And while I find myself measuring using the mm side of my ruler for fine stuff, I had to use the conversion factor on my trusty Texas Instruments TI-36X Pro to figure out 9 cm equaled about 3.5".

Thanks Cody. I like all sizes of pen knives but I'll agree with you, the larger ones are handier IMO. ::nod::

ASP Advocate Knife. Similar to Victorinox's Rambler model, but it adds a locking, serrated blade. That has been the sole reason for my interest in it.

ASP mostly is known for handcuffs and batons, and mostly sells to law enforcement. They have a small lineup of knives, and most are SAK clones with handcuff keys. Those are what most knife dealers on the web have. However, the Advocate is only sold through ASP. The going price on eBay for the others is about $34 plus shipping. ASP's price was $21, plus $8 shipping. Used to be $14-20 for shipping 5-6 years ago.

My problem is that usually, the Chinese Swiss Army Knife clones have bad scissors. I'm hoping it's not the case with this model, given ASP's $40 MSRP.

Found the Klein Tools Japan 44002 on sale for ten bucks. It's the same as the hawkbill I recently purchased size-wise, but features a bit more utilitarian drop point blade.

I was skeptical about the price at first, given MSRP is $30. However, it checked out. It was a Prime item, meaning sold through a third-party seller, but shipped by Amazon. Seller was based in GA, and had been selling for a long time with great feedback; so I took a crapshoot. And, the Chinese haven't faked them.

Bought three.

The Schrade is a tiny little thing. It should be able to sneak in under even the most Draconian of blade length limits. I like it!

Thanks Dan! ::handshake:: Appreciate your comments! ::nod:: :D

Yes it should be a legal carry anywhere IMO. ::hmm:: I saw it on the Bay the other night before I went to bed for about $15 shipped. I put it on my watch list to ::hmm:: about it. And I did ::hmm:: about it. Couldn't hardly even fall asleep because I kept ::hmm:: about it. When I woke up the next morning it was the first thing I ::hmm:: about so I figured it must be pretty important to me if I can't get it off my mind so I bought it. I'm glad that I did. ::nod:: Now I have two of them. One is in near mint condition in my show case & now I'll have this one to carry. One in the show case & one in my pocket = a "Win - Win" Situation in my knifer's heart. ❤️ ::nod:: ::super_happy::

Plus +++++ It has a bail too! ::super_happy:: Small knives are cool but with a bail they are even cooler! IMO 8)

Nice score!

Tiny but it works for most light-duty EDC tasks. I don't have an LB-1, but I do have Camillus and Bear versions that are about the same size, and they cut surprisingly above their size. Usually though, when weight is concerned, I usually go up about a half-inch or so and move to the 2 1/2" to 3" lockbacks with nylon plastic handles.

The Gerber Ultralight LST (used to be known as the Micro LST from the 1980s until recently)is a favorite of mine in that regard. Less than half the price of a Spyderco Ladybug, and in my opinion, it has better action (not to mention, a half-stop to keep the blade from slamming on your fingers). MSRP is $15, I've seen them as low as $10. It is "cheap enough to lose"; as in if I lose it, it isn't expensive to replace, and it's not an old, collectible knife.

It's 2.65" closed, just slightly larger than 2.5"

Another forum I'm on has been doing a "SAK Alike Challenge" with knives that are copies, or very similar to Victorinox and Wenger Swiss Army Knives. I've noticed most of mine have pretty bad scissors, so I'm hoping this one will do well. When it comes to knives that are like SAKs, and do match their quality, it's either us or the Germans that seem to do best.

It's a USA-made Zippo. Camillus and Case made Zippo knives, but this one confuses me. Neither have had a pattern like this. Scissors remind me of those in a Schrade I have. Knowing that Schrade, these scissors SHOULD be as good as the Victorinox ones.

That should be an interesting challenge. Regarding your earlier post on lockbacks, it sounds like a Schrade SP2 could be right up your alley.

Thanks!

I actually have one of those, as well as the 3OT. The 3OT is decent, but the SP2 is a little rough, and I suspect may have been a second (there is a very deep, engraved dot in the back side of the blade). I don't use them as much as the Gerber, as like I said before, the Gerber is still being made, and affordable.

Decided I need to buy more Victorinox Classic Limited Editions. They go up in value very well over here. ::tu::

Bough this one. I'm not much for winter or skiing but I do like the design of this one. And I'm pretty sure that it will be sought after in the near future. ::nod:: Problem would be parting with it. Guess I need two of them. One to keep & one to sell.

This design will go up in value like a rocket over here I'm sure! ::nod:: I need to get another one of these as soon as I can! They are almost sold out. ::nod:: They cost me 23-25€ shipped right now & will be worth 80-100€ in two or three years. That's better than most stocks! ::hmm:: ::super_happy:: I have thought about this before but I must really start investing more money in Victorinox Classic Limited Edition knives. There are a lot of collectors for them here right now, which drives the prices up pretty quick. Will it still be that way in 5 years? I don't know but it's worth a shot to try and see. ::hmm:: Worst case..., I'll have a nice looking collection of Victorinox Classic Limited Edition knives.

Why? Do I really need a reason? For some unknown reason, it spoke to me. I think it was the blade profile talking, plus it wasn't much money. Soooo now one is coming to live with me. I may have a change of heart once I get it in hand but for now it appeased a mild case of the wanna's.
