Most modern ones I have found (I think Mikov makes a few, and I've noticed a number of forestry supply companies with ones of unknown origin) have hand guards. Wonder if this is legally required?

Tom, That H&B is unique. Certainly inscribes a finer line than a gouge-type blade. Do you know it's purpose? J.O'.

I don’t John and I wish I had an old H&B catalog but I don’t. I’ll bring some of my New Britain knives to the winery show in May.

Very unusual blade--looks like the factory started with a blank for a sheepsfoot/rope blade and then cut it to shape.
