Wow!! Unusual. The only knives I have seen marked Imperial and England are shell handled knives made for Imperial Knife Co - similar to the patterns that they made in the US. I'm certain that those were made by Richards since IIRC Imperial-Schrade acquired Richards at some point.
Your knife is a whole different animal - appears to be a high quality stag handled knife (or maybe jigged bone - hard to tell).

Knife sold for $67.56 + $7.15 shipping.
Would have liked to have gotten that one. Thanks Steve for your input. Don't know if it is the same IMPERIAL that we know (Prov. R.I.) or not.

Bringing this thread back because I picked this one up today.
The tang stamp is:
"IMPERIAL" in an arch
ENG
SHEFFIELD
If anyone has information I would appreciate it.

Re: IMPERIAL Sheffield England
Goins list, Imperial Gudedge Cutlery Company Sheffield.
Goins says "this company manufactured Bowie type knives among other kinds of country."
I don't know if it's the same company or not but it's the only Imperial he lists in conjunction with Sheffield.
Beautiful knife!
If you decide to trade it someday, let me know!
