Wow!! Unusual. The only knives I have seen marked Imperial and England are shell handled knives made for Imperial Knife Co - similar to the patterns that they made in the US. I'm certain that those were made by Richards since IIRC Imperial-Schrade acquired Richards at some point.

Your knife is a whole different animal - appears to be a high quality stag handled knife (or maybe jigged bone - hard to tell).

Knife sold for $67.56 + $7.15 shipping. :( Would have liked to have gotten that one. Thanks Steve for your input. Don't know if it is the same IMPERIAL that we know (Prov. R.I.) or not. ::shrug::

Bringing this thread back because I picked this one up today.
The tang stamp is:
"IMPERIAL" in an arch
ENG
SHEFFIELD

If anyone has information I would appreciate it.

Goins list, Imperial Gudedge Cutlery Company Sheffield.
Goins says "this company manufactured Bowie type knives among other kinds of country."

I don't know if it's the same company or not but it's the only Imperial he lists in conjunction with Sheffield.

Beautiful knife! ::tu::
If you decide to trade it someday, let me know!
