This one came yesterday which surprised me as did the delivery time. Our mail usually comes in the afternoon, sometimes around 1400. This one arrived @ around 1100.

Got a few myself today and am revelling in the sweet glow of cold, hard, steel and bone. Beauties and feel very thankful for those who get stuff like this to make the season merry for dad. Hope you all got some in your stockings too. Love a new knife and these two, the 14 and 15. Been after a Muscadine and a Tom's Choice for a while. Love the hammered pins and distressed look. Dreams sometimes come true. The flag knife isn't really my style, but won't tell the father-in-law what I think about that. I will tell him the $50 he sent with it was the best cash gift of the season and one I always love seeing in the box. All the best to all of you and hope you're having a great one.

What a fine family you have I-man! It would appear that some thought was put into which knives they would give you, which is so much better than just some knife that was chosen cuz it was flashy(see flag knife! LOL!)! Even though it seems your FIL really had no idea of which knife to get for you, I think the $50. cash is his way of saying exactly that, and wanted to compensate you with the cash. The best part is though, all parties were thinking of pleasing Dad when they made their choices! Even the flag knife will fill a spot in your display, but the other 2 I'm sure will be carried and used! You know I like the spear-point with the cross-cut covers, and the white bone looks great as well, just would like to see it without a clip-point. Would you please explain what a "Muscadine" is? Also, is "Tom's Choice" the actual name of that style and does the T/C bolster stamp reflect that? Thx, and Happy Holidays to you and yours bud!

On Christmas Eve I got this one from CASE.
They call it the 2021 CCC Exclusive CASE 6.5 Bonestag Barehead Panama.
I'm a little disappointed in the finish on the blades.

Thanks Marco, they are great, no complaints at all. My wife would never know what kind of knives I was looking for so she tells me to tell her what I would like or find one myself and she gets it and wraps it, so it's not really a surprise. Fine with me. She gets what she wants, which is to know what to get me and not buy something I don't want, and I get what I want as well. Win/win. As for the Father in law, well he picks what he think's is good to him and I get it so it's okay if it misses the mark. But he gets an A for effort and I still use the knives for gifts for teens or kids who don't know one knife from another, or are into tacticool knives like this one. But yes, they all want to get me a knife since I"m somewhat into them. But of course most in the family don't get my taste or preferances. I hear you, but I can't choose the blade choice Charlie Compagna puts on his SFOs. But he did the "Muscadine" too and I love that blade. Also I have been told a Muscadine is a grape, maybe the color supposedly of the saw cut scales you and I both like. As for the Tom's Choice, well I assume that's what the TC means since it's not only on the bolster but right in the middle of the printed out "Tom's Choice" in the ribbon blade etch. I assume that's because Charlie C., in his quest to bring traditional blade profiles and patterns, that this might be something a Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn would have carried. Meaning a Barlow from way back, not necessarily as pretty as the modern day white bone. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I think it is. Fine with me. She gets what she wants, which is to know what to get me and not buy something I don't want, and I get what I want as well. Win/win. Tried to inject some humor I guess, albeit not too successful. Same for my comments regarding blade grind, I realize you don't get a choice on a SFO, although, at the time I wasn't aware it was a SFO, I just like to state my blade preference whenever the opportunity presents itself. I'm sure you understood my intent! I really dig the Muscadine connection to grapes, I recall seeing many times grapes in the store with that exact color. And your explanation of the Tom's Choice seems totally logical to me, in fact, whenever I see or hear the name "Tom" associated with a knife the first thing that crosses my mind is Tom Sawyer. When I enlarged your picture I failed to read the blade etch on your T/C, otherwise I likely wouldn't have had to ask what the T/C stamp denotes. Gotta slow down and read more carefully. Hey mate, best of luck on your trip! You're in pretty much the same weather zone, so you should be well accustomed to BC in the winter. Out here, we're pretty much the tundra Russia, so I wouldn't recommend coming out here this week...

Vancover would be glorious this time of year! Perfect time to take a trip out there, not to hot, not to cold; just right.

Going to be saving up my pennies, planning on a trip myself in the future. And who know's, maybe move if the opportuninty persents itself...

Got this small stockman (3 1/2" closed) in the mail today. I knew it was not a real WESTERN but it has a Western logo on the clip blade, no other markings. Bolster, liners, springs, blades, all appear to be some sort of steel, maybe SS.
What company owns the Western name? I would almost bet the farm that it was made in China.
All that said, it is pretty well made, blades close with rubbing, good snap, would make a good Sunday knife.

Never heard of Trivisa but it looks like a nice knife. It also looks like the handles could be removed without taking the knife completely apart, meaning you could slap G10, Stag or anything else on it you wanted to. That would be fun for someone like me with no MOD expierience.
