Tom, here's a compilation of shield names ---► https://www.knifemagazine.com/glossary/shield/

I believe yours is referred to as a Federal Shield.
Thanks for the link Jerry! ::handshake:: I appreciate it. ::nod:: redrider has sent me similar links before, I just can't ever seem to remember the names. ::dang:: ::shrug::

Anyways, it is 3 5/8" long & Stamped only with Solingen Germany. It's NOS but unfortunately it had never seen a drop of oil in it's life which I guess is why it had some light pitting down inside the long pull. Thanks for looking friends! ::handshake:: :D
That's a beautiful knife Tom! ::tu:: One usually sees this style knife with at least 2 blades, but the single spear on your knife really makes it special! Congratulations, I WANT ONE! LOL! 8)

Well..., to tell ya the truth, I believe this one is a single blade in a double blade frame. ::nod:: The blade was made to bear to one side & there is room enough in the well for another blade to fit in there beside it. I took some pictures of that aspect this morning but then figured no one would care to hear about it. Here are the pictures. ::tu:: Notice the grind down by the tang. See how the blade is out of center compared to the thickness of the tang? ::hmm:: And as I mentioned, there is room enough for another blade in the well. ::nod::
::hmm:: Almost sounds like I have learned a thing or two about folding pocket knives. I wouldn't have even noticed these things a few years ago.

Yep, I see what you mean Tom! I assume the previous owner had it modified down to a single blade which IMHO was the right choice! It's pretty cool when we stop and think about what we knew about folding knives just a couple of short years ago and what we know today, and it sure seems like we've come along way! Thx for the additional pics! ::handshake:: 8)

That's a beauty David! ::tu:: I actually had Mark put your knife off to the side for me so I could have a better look, but as soon as I saw it had more than 1 blade I passed on by. I'm a dedicated 1 blade guy! I did buy the big white bone coke-bottle from him, of which I will post pics when it arrives! Did you consider the Boot Hill Small Coke Bottle Stag with the dog's head shield he has as well, it's pretty nice too! 8) EDIT:-Sorry David, the other knife I mentioned is a Boxcar Stag, not a Boot Hill! Duh! ::facepalm:: 8)

Nice David, that is one of the best looking knives I’ve handled, easily in the top 20. The stag Boothill is now spoken for by another member. It’s gorgeous too. But I love wooden covers and Chinese Quince burl wood is the top of the list for me when it comes to wooden handles. What a great shaped knife. I’m surprised there aren’t more knives made in that shape, it would certainly be popular.

Q, you have some great knives there. The mod by MM is really nice. I have a MM mod that I carry and I love it. That black T.A. Davidson is the show stopper, man I love that knife.

I wish it were smooth white bone, but it's some kind of synthetic (plastic) material. I actually got that knife specifically to have re-handled/modified. It's a Schrade+ USA 175.

cudgee wrote: Tue Jun 08, 2021 1:27 am What are you going to have it re-handled in ::hmm:: smooth white bone ::woot:: ::ds:: seriously whatever it is you are going to have a damn fine Sheepsfoot knife. Some nice wood would look spectacular

Well...here it is at last...modified as planned (by muskrat man) with smooth white/natural bone and red spacer. Also had the sheepsfoot blade modded into a Wharncliffe. Now, it's exactly what I had imagined when I bought it, and exactly what I wanted. ::super_happy::
PC100008.JPGPC100010.JPGPC100014.JPGPC100015.JPG

Sorry, cudgee, I considered many different types of wood, but bone just seemed like the way to go on this one. Personally, I think it's a huge improvement over the original. Now, I think it looks kind of like a GEC Boy's Knife (same size but, of course, much, much less expensive...and it's a Wharncliffe, so even better, IMHO! :D )

Muskrat Man did you right on that one! Love the lanyard hole too!

It's not a knife, but a blade opener or pull, whatever the correct term is.
It's a CASE 1889-1989 Centennial.

A G Russell calls those "Steel Thumbnails" David! They sure save on broken fingernails, and they're also used for popping the tops off of tubes that some knives are shipped in, think GEC! 8)

This Camillus Sears High Carbon came today. The bones are nice. It’s a first gen with nickel silver liners and the center liner is coined. The master blade has been reprofiled. Not bad for 35 dollars!
