Nice or Over Priced?

Good lookin' knives John! S.O.G. makes some good knives just like Boker does, and you know... price is subjective to what you're willing to pay.

You would know far better than I John because these are not the style of knife I follow. I'm a stiletto guy! And you certainly can't go wrong with a Boker!

I saw these yesterday when I got the email or maybe it was this morning. I can't find them on the website now but I liked the smaller version with the small Tanto blade that said it was "Coming Soon". It was a smaller blade than the one pictured above.

I like to have a safety switch on my autos and I like that the firing button on these also serves as the safety switch. I might end up getting one eventually if the feedback from owners is favorable.

I say that it is pretty nice to be USA made and at that price. However, what we don't know is how much of the parts are actually made in the USA. I would say many components come from Taiwan and/or China.

I got to looking closely at these SOGs. My focus was on their autos that have a blade about half the length of the handle. In other words, their California-legal models.

I don’t live in California but I wanted one of these short blade/long handle autos anyway.

I had almost decided on the SOG model pictured below but then it dawned on me that I already own a Hogue auto that I really like and Hogue also makes a short blade/long handle auto.

So I ended up buying the Hogue instead of a SOG. I’m already familiar with the quality of Hogue autos, which is excellent by the way, and the price was only $2.51 more than the SOG that I would have bought if I had chosen SOG.

I feel a little out of place posting a Hogue knife in a SOG thread but I promised to keep ya’ll posted.

I have never handled any SOG auto so I cannot comment on the quality. I do however, feel very satisfied with the Hogue that I chose and the price that I paid for it.

Here’s the SOG that I would have chosen. Priced at $124.95 but not released yet.

Here’s the Hougue Microswitch that I bought instead. Priced at $127.46.

And the grey Microswitch that I’ve owned for a few months. Priced at $144.46 due to the longer blade.

Smart. And I like both the Hogues. I think they will both serve you equally well.

Thank you, Mark. The package had a little surprise inside too. It came with a second filler plate to fill the indentation where the pocket clip goes. My first Hogue only came with a filler plate for one side. I had to request the second one from Hogue which they sent me at no charge. Of course, that's a moot point for anyone that uses pocket clips.

I'm gonna have a hard time choosing which knife to toss in my pocket each day when I leave for work but that's part of the fun.

My AGA Campolin "Zero" came with the little plate to cover the pocket-clip holes, and when I first saw it I thought it was absolutely brilliant, I wish ALL knives came with one! Guess you'll just have to alternate between knives each day so you won't have to decide!

It's a no-brainer which looks better!

I agree. It's an inexpensive part and many folks do like to carry without the pocket clip. Wouldn't cost other manufacturers too much to include an extra one with each knife.
