Thanks Rick T, Mark, Garry, Tom and Madmarco (did I miss anyone) for all the comments on the Rough Ryder Denim knives. I really like the series except I do have a problem with the Barlow and I will be talking to SMKW this week. Keep collecting.. ::ds::

I got this "China" Marbles Canoe. Snap is pretty weak, red something ::shrug:: in the horn that looks like red plastic, there are some gaps between the springs & gaps between the handles and liners that you can see the light through. Not very impressed by this one. It's ok as an EDC I guess. I surely don't need any more of them though. ::uc::
Great looking canoe Tom! ::tu:: Sorry it's not up to par for you. ::facepalm:: 8)
Thanks Marco! No big deal Buddy. ::tu:: Didn't cost that much.

 Beautiful Knives Mark! ::tu:: ::super_happy::
Thanks Tom.
That surprises me on the quality, usually those China Marbles are very good quality.
bighomer says he has some really nice ones. My theory is, maybe then send the better examples to the states because that's where Mables is from. And maybe they send the seconds to the rest of the world. The same thing could be done with German brands like Böker or Robi Klaas. The better examples might be sent to Germany while the seconds go somewhere else. I have absolutely no proof of this. I am just guessing & it's just a theory of mine that seems to make sence to me. Or as Smitty said, maybe this is old stock. This tells me, if I am going to buy knives made in China, I'll stick to German brands like Böker or Klaas. They have always impressed me so far. ::tu::

Looks like rams horn handles, and that's what the box says, so I guess it is. Get some WD40 and flush out the blade wells and operate the blades several times, then flush with the wd40 again. There could be some small particles of machining grit or sediment still between the blades and springs. Oil the joints and work them again. Sometimes this helps improve the snap. I agree with SSK, Marbles as of late has improved on their quality, maybe this one was some older stock? ::shrug::
I did try that with Ballistol Smitty. It helped to some extent. Thanks for the Tip! Appreciate it! ::handshake:: :D
I have a Marbles sow belly stockman in Ram horn, and it is really good quality. So that blows all the good stuff goes to the states theory out of the water. ::doh:: I personally like the horn on yours, and will just get better with carry and use. ::tu:: ::nod:: Sorry about the other issues though, but it is always good to have a go to knife for hard jobs, then it if gets damaged not such a big deal. But i reckon that horn will age beautifully. Have a good week mate. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: :)

Not bad for $5.00 though!

The other is a 1988 Buck 110. It had been used, but not abused. She just needed a little TLC
and a sharpening.I did clean her up though since the sheath had deposited the lovely green gunk
that the like to leave when interacting with brass bolsters. A pretty good woods toter for $30.00.IMG_1708 (2).JPGIMG_1710 (2).JPGIMG_1706 (4).JPG

Garry, that is one of the nicest Scout knives I have handled. I love the rope jigged bone handles on that knife, simply gorgeous.

Rick, that SKS is tripping all my buttons. I love that Moon Walk Tinker. Takes me back to when I was a kid watching Neil Armstrong walk on the moon. Earth rise is one of my favorite pictures from the moon missions. I might have to get one of those.

Thank you dogllegg. In hand and under good light it is even more beautiful. The construction quality is also first rate. The runups are not at Japanese level but still very good.
