Tested 5375 Counterfeit??
I purchased a collection of old Case knives a few years back and while the others were all good, I could tell right away there were issues with this one. I don't know enough about tested era knives to know exactly what this is, but would like to hear some thoughts. Obviously the long pull on the main blade is wrong and I've never seen one like this in my experience. I was wondering if Case ever made a blade like this for any of their knives or is it a total fake? Also, I know it isn't a tested era shield, so I was wondering if it is a legitimate frame from late tested or XX era?
I am curious if it is a total fake or has any value at all. The knife is solid with nice reddish stag covers and I really like it. I plan to keep it and would never let it get out in circulation to be misrepresented.
Thanks is advance for any input you guys may have!!!

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Just thought to take a couple pictures next to a legit tested green bone long pull to show the difference.

I’ve seen a short long pull, this knife has been Polished on a bit, but it may be accurate. A more clear photo of the stamp may help.

Thanks for the info. I would be thrilled if this knife was accurate, but don't want to get my hopes up. I've added some better pictures of the stamp and a couple more pictures of the stag. I really love the stag covers on this knife, but the pictures don't do them justice.

The blade and pull look odd , but the stamp looks good to me.

Re: Tested 5375 Counterfeit??
I have seen this quasi 3/4 long pull on the Tested 75 blade before. I have also seen this version of the long pull on the 64055 and the 6393.
To me, the stamp looks too crisp for the rest of the knife. It could be affect of the the lighting and the camera causing this, but the stamp doesn't look "stamped". The "E" in CASE seems to give the "artists" problems in recreating. In the attached image the blade came from another Case Tested XX 75. The rightmost crop of the stamp came from the knife in question.

I know nothing about Case knives but the tang of OP blade looks to have been 'shaved' down. The spine edge of the tang looks to be the original steel surface.
Does anyone else see it this way ?

I've seen the "short" long pull before too, and that doesn't bother me. But, several aspects of the tang stamp look contrived to me, particularly in Jerry's picture above.

Roland, I think I know what you are talking about (see picture). It is really challenging to make accurate judgements from pictures, but the tang area appears to be modified at least by polishing if not something more mischievous.kootenay joe wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 5:13 pm I know nothing about Case knives but the tang of OP blade looks to have been 'shaved' down. Re: Tested 5375 Counterfeit??
Thank you Jerry. Yes, the circled area is what i said looks like original surface.
This plus the angled grind line and odd looking "E", i think is enough to strongly suggest that this blade is not original to this knife.
But, do the Case experts agree ?

Re: Tested 5375 Counterfeit??
Thanks for all the information. Originally, I was more concerned with the "short" long pull and thought the stamp looked good. I never noticed some of the potential issues with the tang, grind, and stamp when looking at the knife in person. I compared the stamp to some authentic stamps in Gerald Witcher's "Counterfeiting Antique Cutlery" and from my limited experience, I thought it was consistent with those and could see it wasn't cold stamped. However, after looking at the pictures close up and hearing the feedback, I can definitely see the concerns.
Like I said in the original post, I do not have enough experience and knowledge with the older knives and fake stamps, but would be interested to know opinions on how this stamp might have been tampered with, changed, or inscribed on the tang?
Thanks again and I appreciate the learning experience from all your feedback.

The stamp looks ok to me. I think the polishing can cause discrepancies from what we would normally see but it looks ok to me.

Slight use, pocket wear and buffed hard. That said, not a fake or altered.
Read that knife without the stamp. It is 100% authentic in my opinion. Nothing wrong with stamp either in my opinion. E does look slighty odd possibly from pics, worn stamp or whatever. I read the stamp last. No concerns on this knife besides my observation I stated in my first sentence of this post.

Re: Tested 5375 Counterfeit??
Thank you all for your input. I always thought the knife was not legit due to the "short" long pull. It's great to hear from experts that the long pull is not an issue and the knife could very well be authentic.
Thanks again for your feedback and I would love to hear from Steve (knifeaholic) as well, if he has an opinion on this knife.
