The knife in question can be seen here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CASE-XX-USA-2- ... 4359997853
I believe the blades are carbon steel and have been sharpened. Some cleaning of the blades would also be in order. The pattern appears to be 92033; if my research pointed me in the right direction, this is a 2 5/8" knife with imitation mother-of-pearl covers. The covers are another area of concern; there seem to be gaps between covers and liners, and especially covers and bolsters. Is that material known to shrink over time?
What do others think of this knife?

The knife is stamped 92033 so that is correct. Small two-blade pen. Carbon steel blades, I can’t see evidence of re-sharpening but hard to tell from pictures - the blades look full but have some spotting. Those covers do shrink over time, what you see is not unusual for one that age. If it was mine I’d consider re-handling it with Kirinite of similar color. The problem with that is unless you can do the work yourself the material and labor will likely cost more than the knife is worth.

As long as there is no irreversible damage and everything is solidly attached and functional, I'm potentially interested. (I, personally, would leave the covers alone unless the shrinkage became severe.) Aside from what would be a fair offer, my remaining questions would have to be answered by the seller. Thanks for the advice!

Here are some price comparables from recent eBay sold listings. All of these look to be in better condition except the one that sold a month ago for $20.50, and of course the parts knife. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Ca ... 1&_fosrp=1

Re: Seeking opinions and information on a 1978 Case
I'm glad someone thought to look for comparables. Though I am still somewhat interested in the knife, I'll wait for the seller to drop the price rather than make a potentially insulting offer. Thanks again for the help!

Your welcome, glad it was a help. Since several of this pattern have been sold on ebay since the first of this year, if you don’t get this one, with a little patience it won’t be long before there’s another, maybe better one available.
