Another couple knives, I just can't stop

Post by GECTECHMAN »

I don't know why but I like doing this. I don't get the things quite right yet. Not to my specks anyway. Here they are. I plan to use the fillet knife on some walleye this year, I am not sure what to do with the dagger I need a sheath for it, maybe a boot one.

Lookin' good !

But if you're not careful......you'll wind up production there at work.

That dagger looks like one of Grand Leavitt's blades. I haven't spoken to him for a while. Grand is a darn nice guy with excellent blades. He has a few Damascus blades for Buck 110's that look pretty good.

Nice work Techman! ::tu:: ::tu:: Sheath for that dagger will be pretty easy to do. Buy The DVD set from Chuck Burrows, he's forgotten more than most of will ever know. 44 years in the business, guy does very well.

I have a fillet blade very similar in design to the one you have. Mine is different at the Ricasso and at the butt end. Ah Heck, I'm thinking of going with 1/8 inch, so it will be a bird and trout I guess, a favorite pattern. I was going to use 1095, but either O-1 or D2 will win out. I should do stainless, but I kinda like to buck the trend.

Keep up the good work!

I wouldn't mind doing some production but I doubt I ever will. I am pretty busy doing my job and the price of knives would go up if I had to work on them.

Yes I did get the dagger from Grand, He is a great guy and I like his stuff. I have bought other Damascus and it is not the same. The other stuff just looks fake. The dagger is damascus all the way, not a welded on tang like most.

Nice work, watch out for some of those eBay sellers, 2 Finger is OK, IIRC but there other sellers you have to watch out for. Damascus fron Japan and India, pretty easy to spot, some from Pakistan as well. ::barf::

Love filet knives and made this one for my Dad. He passed on a yr ago and I have it back. The blade is D2 which has very good edge holding ability. Made another one just like it using Stellite. Now that one had the very best edge holding ability of any knife I've ever had in my hands.

very nice work. Each one is a one of a kind knife. I have a boot sheath that might fit your dagger. Look at my store: B&B Knives on the AAPK stores. If you are interested and need any other info just email me. Keep up the good work.

If you need some one to go fishing with you let me know. I will pay my 1/2 of the way.

Perhaps I will bring my fish knife with me.

Great knives all of them. I especially like the dagger. ::tu::

Keep up the good work. I hope to get out to the knife shop some today and out of the screenprinting shop. Need the money from the screenprinting, but I have the bug to make more knives!!! ::nod::

Keep up the good work all!

Very nice Gecman! I really like that dagger/boot knife! I know what you mean.................There's something exciting, even primeval about taking raw materials and turning them into a knife.

Hey Gecman...........Hukk. I just recently found out I have a contact in Bakersfield (I worked with Rocky 20 years ago) who has been making Damascus for years. I called him and received an invitation to come down anytime and "hang out" around the shop. I'm going down there in February to do some "hanging out".

They call their outfit, Osoforge. I can't wait to learn some of their tricks!

I worked with Rocky in the crane and rigging business (man that seems like a lifetime ago). He started out using old cable from the rigs and progressed to pattern welding from there. I can't wait to visit them!
