Re: Knife Photography
I've often wondered about that nail nick. Someone asked me if the blade had been replaced. I bought the knife used in the '90s when I was first starting to think like a collector. The tang stamp is genuine Case and the blade is carbon steel. I keep meaning to do some research on it but I'm lazy.

Re: Knife Photography
Great shots everyone!!!
Ivoryman got me thinking about my Case 6235 1/2 Jackknife and the nail nick. So I looked at an older version that I have. Below is a side by side shot of both knives. On the left is a well worn 40-64 that does not have the 6235 1/2 stamp (Or it has been worn off) and on the right is the 64-69 that I have been carrying. The other difference is the older knife has the master blade to the front with the secondary blade behind while the newer knife has the secondary blade to the front with the master blade behind. I purchased both knives used so one or both of them could have been altered at some point. Which means I'm going to have to do more research to find out what the answer is.

Re: Knife Photography
Great pair of bones your have there. Interesting comparison. Wonder if Case just moved the nicks at some point? Clip profile too maybe. I don't know but I noticed it was different. Interesting anyway to see the slight variations and change over time.Sasquach wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 3:50 pm Great shots everyone!!!

Re: Knife Photography
I don't know. On both of the knives I have the nick is the same and even though the older knife has significant blade loss it looks to be the same blade profile. The position of the the blades (master blade in front of or behind the secondary blade) is another question that I have stuck in my head now too. I'm sure that one of the collectors/historians out there will know what the story is, I just need to pose the question to the right person. If you don't mind, I would like to borrow your photo when I ask a few of my fellow collectors about it.Ivoryman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 10:45 pmGreat pair of bones your have there. Here are a couple of shots I took for Halloween. I don't remember if I posted them here or not so if they're repeats....blame it on oldtimers syndrome.

I don't mind, feel free to use it any way you want. Just hope it helps, hope it can contribute to getting an answer, or for whatever good it may do. Would love to hear what happens. Good luck and always appreciate learning something about it.
